BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej checked into Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital for a scheduled check-up on Tuesday, the Royal Household Bureau said.
The bureau declined to say how long the 81-year-old king, the world's longest-reigning monarch and highly revered by his people, planned to stay at the hospital.
"This is just a normal, routine check-up," an official told Reuters. He arrived around 11 p.m. accompanied by Queen Sirikit and several members of the royal family.
In March, the king spent a day in the hospital for a routine health check-up. The bureau released no details of the results, saying it was a private visit.
The monarch last month called for unity in deeply divided Thailand to stop it from falling into ruin in a rare comment on the country's four-year political crisis.
